Dr. Sophia Kidd is the Founder of Words Art International, Director of Igneus Press, and Editor of <em>Literature and Modern China<\/em>, a journal of School of Literature and Journalism, Sichuan University. Dr. Sophia Kidd is a research curator, art critic, translator, and writer who has lived and worked in Chengdu for over ten years, working closely with Chinese scholars, artists, and specialists in the field of art and facilitating exchanges between them and their counterparts abroad. She has recently published a monograph <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/book\/10.1007\/978-981-16-8574-3\">Culture Paves the New Silk Roads<\/a>(Palgrave, 2022.) Kidd also wrote a chapter that appeared in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/w\/spatial-literary-studies-in-china-fang-ying\/1141485393\">Spatial Literary Studies in China<\/a>, (Palgrave, 2023.) Kidd also edit-in-chief <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecafereview.com\/past-issues-cafe-review-2021-fall-issue\/\">The Cafe Review: The Chinese Issue<\/a> (XPress, 2021.) She graduated from Skidmore College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Fine Art, and from Columbia University in 1966 with an MFA. Damon is a US-based artist and water activist, and is also founder of the Keepers of the Water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Damon&#8217;s proposal and design for a large-scale water conservation project was accepted by the Chengdu government in 1996. In 1998, this world&#8217;s first urban eco- park, Chengdu Living Water Garden, was completed. The project won the highest international award for waterfront excellence, the International Environmental Design Award, and became the Chengdu case study for the Best Urban Practice Area at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Damon has lectured extensively in the United States, Europe, and China, and has been a guest artist at numerous universities. For more than sixty years, she has dedicated herself to protecting water, listening to water, and leading audiences to interact with water, thereby promoting a deeper link between humans and nature. Betsy is a world-renowned ecologically focused artist, whose work encompasses a wide range of media, including painting, installation, performance, and video. She has participated in countless important exhibitions worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Recent exhibitions include Anti-Internationalism at the Van Abbemuseum in the Netherlands and Connecting Drops at SUNY Stony Brook in New York. Betsy Damon has also published books such as Director, Living Waters of Larimer, Principles of Water, and Water Talks, which is presently being translated into Chinese. He is a poet, author, painter, performance artist, and curator, a rare instance of a contemporary artist who combines exhibition planning with cultural criticism.<span>Beginning with Keepers of the Water (1995), Dai Guangyu has mobilized dozens of contemporary art events in Chengdu and other parts of China, collaborating often with artists, critics, and the media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Dai Guangyu has integrated Western contemporary art with traditional ink-wash tradition and technique, while also focusing his work on an appreciation of the spiritual lineage of cultural origins. Dai strives to gain inspiration throughout art historical research by focusing on the evolution of ideas, tapping into the potential of traditional art resources to approach an international art historical horizon. He utilizes performance, installation, painting, video, and mixed media in his creative practice; and has shown his body of work in important art museums around the world such as the National Art Museum of China, the Sichuan Museum of Fine Arts, and the Bonn Museum of Modern Art. She graduated from the University of Tsukuba in 1993 with an MFA in Japanese Painting. From 1993 to 1996, Xiong Wenyun worked as a guest researcher at the Asakura Naomi Research Laboratory of Bunkyo University in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>From 1998 to 2001, she produced a large experimental art project called Moving Rainbow, then created the Kongkong series before commencing research and practice of children&#8217;s art and education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In 2020, while caring for her ailing mother, she began to record things around her on the back of used medicine boxes from her mother&#8217;s medical regimen. For three years after her mother was discharged from the hospital, she created the Hospital series, the Arrow series, and the Medicine Box series. In her decades of artistic practice, her works have been deeply influenced by her early experience of going to the countryside in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang areas. Themes of humanity and nature, as well as the cycle of life and death, have always been important to Xiong Wenyun. Her works encompass a wide range of media, including painting, installation, performance, and mixed media. Xiong has participated in important exhibitions such as the 2021 Chengdu Biennale, the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field Triennial in Japan, and A Thousand Rainbows Solo Exhibition of Xiong Wenyun in Shenzhen. Her works address gender, identity, and ecology in meaningful and nuanced ways.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Her prolific and constantly evolving body of work has been exhibited in art museums throughout the world, such as at the National Museum of World Culture (V\u00e4rldskulturmuseet, Gothenburg, Sweden) and the Bonn Women&#8217;s Museum (Germany). Li also participated in the Toronto Biennial of Art in Canada and the China-Europe International Art Biennale of Prague.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Her works have been collected by the Museum of East Asian Antiquities (\u00d6stasiatiska museet, Stockholm, Sweden), Teda Contemporary Art Museum, as well as by collectors in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Singapore. Locality is extremely important to Song Chen&#8217;s work, as the artist considers her locality as a spiritual home from where she can focus on the ultimate destination of human evolution. Her prolific performative praxis has created several happenings and installations using soil, ink, and other natural materials through which she seeks to address the human heart as her partner in dialogue. Her soil-based creations utilize a variety of artistic forms, including installation, performance, video, and mixed media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Song Chen&#8217;s soil-based artworks have been exhibited at Art Hong Kong, Art Basel HK, Shanghai Art Fair, ART021 Contemporary Art Fair in Shanghai, and West Bund Art  Design in Shanghai. She graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 2017, going on to study at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, where she received her MFA degree in 2021. She now lives and works in Chengdu and Chongqing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Li Yaoyao is the youngest artist in this exhibition, with her works covering performance, installation, video, and poetry. Li focuses on the transformation and extension of her physical environment into a spatiality that is simultaneously containing and being contained. She also encounters and draws connections between &#8220;uncertain possibilities.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Recently, Li Yaoyao has been exploring the relationship between the perception of self-imagery, particularly in terms of the body, as well as the attractive forces and tendencies of repetitive memories and future emotions. She begins with a written text, going on to conjure a dream with image and sound, building a parallel world of inner micro-movement which is triggered by
