While the selection of three older generation artists is essential in looking backwards, we have also invited these three to select younger artists whose artworks create dialogue between generations. Dr. Sophia Kidd is the Founder of Words Art International, Director of Igneus Press, and Editor of <em>Literature and Modern China<\/em>, a journal of School of Literature and Journalism, Sichuan University. Dr. Sophia Kidd is a research curator, art critic, translator, and writer who has lived and worked in Chengdu for over ten years, working closely with Chinese scholars, artists, and specialists in the field of art and facilitating exchanges between them and their counterparts abroad. She has recently published a monograph <a href=\"\">Culture Paves the New Silk Roads<\/a>(Palgrave, 2022.) Kidd also wrote a chapter that appeared in <a href=\"\">Spatial Literary Studies in China<\/a>, (Palgrave, 2023.) Kidd also edit-in-chief <a href=\"\">The Cafe Review: The Chinese Issue<\/a> (XPress, 2021.) He is a poet, author, painter, performance artist, and curator, a rare instance of a contemporary artist who combines exhibition planning with cultural criticism.<span>Beginning with Keepers of the Water (1995), Dai Guangyu has mobilized dozens of contemporary art events in Chengdu and other parts of China, collaborating often with artists, critics, and the media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Dai Guangyu has integrated Western contemporary art with traditional ink-wash tradition and technique, while also focusing his work on an appreciation of the spiritual lineage of cultural origins. Dai strives to gain inspiration throughout art historical research by focusing on the evolution of ideas, tapping into the potential of traditional art resources to approach an international art historical horizon. He utilizes performance, installation, painting, video, and mixed media in his creative practice; and has shown his body of work in important art museums around the world such as the National Art Museum of China, the Sichuan Museum of Fine Arts, and the Bonn Museum of Modern Art. He earned his MFA from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1985 before relocating to the United States in 1986. From 2005 to 2024, he served as Professor of Art at Sichuan University, shaping a generation of emerging artists. Dividing his time between Chengdu and Los Angeles, He Gong\u2019s work reflects a sustained dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic traditions. His paintings, exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Venice Biennale and the Edinburgh Festival, trace personal and collective journeys across landscapes of displacement and return. His recent practice embraces a narrative turn, using the visual field as a stage for unfolding allegories of identity, longing, and transformation. She has participated in several residencies including the Kwangju Museum of Art.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She is sensitive to the changes in her own environment and presents art from a unique perspective that is different from the habitual thinking of social life. His work has been included in the 13th Shanghai Biennale and the Caen Film Festival. He was awarded the John Moore Painting Prize and his article &#8220;Empire\u2019s Legacy&#8221; won the International Awards for Art Criticism Prize, and was selected for the Gen.T Asian Emerging Pioneers list, \u201cHuaYu Youth Award\u201d\uff0c\u201cChina Art power 100\u201d, \u201cJimei\u00b7Arles Discovery Reward\u201d and Porsche \u201cYoung Chinese Artist of the Year\u201d Award.
