English and Chinese, being the most widely used languages in the world,

With a long history and rich experience, Igneus Press is led by accomplished artists, writers, and experts who possess high aesthetic sensibilities and disciplinary strengths.

Enhanced Communication Efficiency

are crucial tools for cultural and arts dissemination. Scientific and artistic aspects of translation require technical nuanced expertise that we offer.

A translator’s accurate understanding of the original text, command of source and target language, as well as final proofreading by native speakers all contribute to determining whether a translation is not only accurate but interesting.

Igneus Press works with Yan Er Lu’s professional team of translators experienced in humanities-based academic fields as well as literature and the arts.

Co-translation is a method wherein two or more translators work together, who are native speakers of the source and target languages, collaborating on a translation.

Co-translation is an ideal choice for you and your organization. It ensures high quality while also speeding up the publication cycle.

In Yan Er Lu’s collaborative translation from Chinese to English, for example, a native Chinese translator and a native English translator complete the translation in tandem. The native Chinese translator will ensure all the meanings in the Chinese text are accurately conveyed, while the native English translator will focus on whether the English feels and sounds good to a native reader.

In short, Yan Er Lu’s co-translation combines the wisdom of two translators. A native speaker of the source language is the main translator, supplemented by a native speaker of the target language, ensuring translation quality. This method is particularly suited for literary, aesthetic and scholarly translation work.

Enhanced Communication Efficiency

The entire collaboration process with Igneus Press is conducted in both Chinese and English, ensuring efficient communication.

Peter · Kidd (1947-2020)

The founder of lgneus Press:

(1947-2020) Born in Springfield, Illinois, Peter Kidd grew up in New England, where his father worked as a New York corporate executive. After attending Columbia University, Kidd sailed out of Brooklyn on a Yugoslavian freighter to Tangier, Morocco, where he spent the next three years writing his first book, before spending time in London and Canada. Peter traveled throughout the United States, living temporarily in Boston and San Francisco before settling in Bedford, New Hampshire, where he raised four children as a landscape architect and designer. He is an author of fiction, criticism, plays and poetry. Peter founded lgneus Press in 1989 which has published more than 50 books of poetry and plays to date. Upon Peter Kidd’s passing, his daughter, Sophia Kidd, took on Igneus Press, continuing to publish books of poetry. Sophia has expanded Igneus to publish translations of poetry, arts writing, and academic journals by Chinese writers, artists, and scholars.

Igneus Press

Founded in 1989, Igneus Press is Yan Er Lu’s United States publishing partner.

In the 1980s, at Charlies’ Tap on Green Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, poets Peter Kidd, Wally E. Butts, and Bill Kemmett felt indignant about the lack of suitable venues for truly outstanding poets. They got to know each other very well through weekly poetry readings at the bar, gathering afterwards for a bite to eat and a few laughs. As a result, Peter Kidd decided to establish his own publishing house. Wally E. Butts brought with him The Required Dance, a manuscript he had been putting together over a period of ten years. The poetry collection was published and distributed by Igneus Press, marking the beginning of Butt’s journey to becoming the poet laureate of New Hampshire.

Today, Igneus Press poetry collections are archived in special collections libraries,

and its authors have gone on to become significant poets.

Igneus Press is currently expanding its scope of operations to include academic journals and art books. Igneus Press is integrating the fields of art, literature, and culture to address complex social issues that traditional isolated disciplines fail to address.

Through the years, Igneus Press has searched for works that show sympathy and care for the human condition, aiming to preserve a space for diversity and inclusivity in reshaping national and international literary standards.

Igneus Press provides online and print publication services to both universities and organizations.
